Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent (Divergent, #1)

I've never been very good at writing book reviews.  I know what I like and dislike, but I rarely can verbalize why I like something (or dislike something).

I read this book for part of an online book club I try to participate in.  When I saw this book was selected I had absolutely no idea what it was about so I started it with no preconceived notions.  In fact, I didn't even know it was a young adult book (which I typically love).

This book kept me enthralled all weekend long.  I passed up other activities because I wanted to sit and read this book all afternoon yesterday.  I finished it this morning before I left for work.

I really, really loved it.  In fact, I may turn around and reread it again right away.

The only disappointing thing?  That I just found out it's part of a trilogy and part two isn't released until May and part three isn't coming out until next year!

Divergent is my super favorite right now...
New follower here :)
My debut novel, OPPRESSION, is actually sitting close to hers on the B&N Teen NOOK Book best-seller list: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s?view=grid&dref=5594&store=ebook&SZE=10&SRT=sa
I hope you'll check it out!

The only negative things I would say about this book is that the romance seemed a little rushed once they actually started talking to each other, and that in the final battle, Tris seemed very detached from what was going on around her. She didn’t seem to completely register the deaths around her, but I can put that aside some because perhaps she was in survival mode. Overall, this was an amazing book that I would recommend to anyone who likes dystopian books, or really just anyone. And now I can’t wait until May for book #2!
